Elder Update

Elder Update – October 2018

October was another very busy month for the Elders. We met as a full team of elders on three different occasions. And we had several other meetings with just two, three or four elders meeting with people for church business related issues.

During our regular 2nd Wednesday of the month and the 4th Wednesday of the month meetings we discussed:

  • Finances – working on the upcoming 2019 budget.
  • A date for the annual membership meeting was set for January 20, 2019 at 6:00 p.m.
  • The Elder Nominating committee was selected per the LMBC Constitution. Those that agreed to serve on this committee are Kathy Von Gunten, Gerald DeVilbiss and elders: Al Strawn, Jami Peters and Doug Prins.
  • Glenn Moyer, Pastor Kenny and Ted Franke have their elder term ending in January of 2019.
  • Matt Loudon and Gary Feaster gave a report on their meeting with Anna Hamman for church membership. A motion was made to approve her for membership.

Please be in prayer for the elders as we continue to search for a Senior Pastor. We have looked over Jason Daughtry’s resume, application, doctrinal statement and a questionnaire that we sent to him. We have received references which are very positive, and we have met with him twice. And like you, we have been observing and listening to his sermons the last three Sundays. We are planning to have more meetings with Jason as we go through the process of a Senior Pastor search.

God is using you, His church, to bring about His Glory. Blessings on each of you as you celebrate with thanksgiving this Thanksgiving

Elder Update – September 2018

The Elders met for two meetings in the month of September; once on the 12th and once on the 26th. On September 12th Pastor Kenny presented another resume for Senior Pastor position that was received. Several options regarding possible interim Pastors were discussed. Final arrangements for Simon Flynn to come preach on September 30th were made. There was a time of discussion regarding potential applicants for the part time Youth Director position.

-A motion was made to approve $250.00-$300.00 a week for an interim Pastor who would be charged with doing the Sunday sermon only. Recommendation was made Interim Pastor to continue with the book of John.

On September 26th a report was received regarding the Yak.

-The lease for the current location of the Yak will be up at the end of December.
-No suitable prospects had been found for a new location for the Yak, but the search continues.

More discussion was had regarding possible candidates for Interim Pastor position and details regarding their availability and interest were shared. There was talk of arranging an interview with an applicant for the part time Youth Director position as soon as he was available. More resumes for the Senior Pastor position were presented and briefly discussed.

Some discussion was had regarding the current level of giving through the Missions Committee. There are some individuals retiring or transitioning off of missions and there are some wanting to apply for support. Pastor Kenny will be looking further into financial obligations and changes that need to be made.

Ted Frankie has chosen not to be nominated for another term as Elder. The nominating committee will be formed to start searching for a replacement candidate.

Elder Update – August 2018

At the August 8th meeting, Pastor Kenny reported that a Fire Marshal inspection of the church buildings was recently completed. There were several issues identified that were quickly addressed. Also, Nick Blohm has decided not to pursue the part time Youth Director position. There was a discussion regarding the Senior Pastor applicant, Simon Flynn. A motion was approved to invite Simon to speak on September 30, 2018. Glenn Moyer reported that he has approached several people from the church to assist in reviewing security procedures in and around the facilities. Finally, there was discussion and review of twelve new resumes received from individuals interested in the Senior Pastor position. Following the review, five individuals were eliminated from further consideration.

During the August 22nd meeting, Andy Miller updated the Elders on the status of disciple making small groups. Unfortunately, in light of other duties this summer including preaching most Sundays, there was little progress to report. In addition, without a part time Youth Director in place, Andy believes he needs to focus immediately on a successful launch of the fall youth ministries. Also, during the meeting a motion was approved to seek an Interim Pastor to deliver the weekly sermon and provide consistency.

A special meeting was held on August 27th and September 5th. The following motion was approved:

• Affirm the Elders’ desire for Andy to continue leading the church’s efforts in establishing disciple making small groups,

• Release Andy from his responsibilities for preaching and teaching effective on September 16, 2018 to facilitate this effort,

• Do a soft launch of disciple making small groups when a part time Youth Director is in place,

• Focus on small group leadership recruitment and training during the soft launch period,

• Request for Andy to lead youth ministries, and to assist in recruiting and training a new part time youth director,

• Launch the disciple making small groups in the fall of 2019 under Andy’s direction and leadership.

Also, a motion was approved to accept Ryan Smith as member of LMBC.

Please continue to pray for God’s leading in building up Christians to live pleasing to God, and equipping believers for ministry, while winning others to Jesus Christ.

Elder Update – July 2018

During the month of July, the elders met on five different occasions which included the open forum meeting on the eighth, two regular meetings, one special meeting and an interview for membership.

Approximately 75-100 people attended the open forum meeting on July 8th. A financial update was given by the elders and the rest of the meeting consisted of answering various questions asked by those in attendance. The next open forum meeting is scheduled for October 14th.

Three staff members came to several of the regular and special meetings and gave oral reports/updates on current ministries and responsibilities. One staff member submitted a written report/update which was reviewed.

The reports given by the staff included:

– An update on the current status of The YAK youth center and future plans.

o Jeff Gail has returned as the director.
o The YAK is currently seeking a new location in Palmer.
o The YAK has formed an independent board of directors and is currently working to obtain Non-profit tax status.
o When the non-profit status is obtained, The YAK will begin transitioning to a completely autonomous organization.

– Update on the auditorium lobby upgrade and welcoming ministry team activities.
– Status of the Summer youth ministry and ideas for the ministry in the Fall.
– Information on the continuing transition and working with the new accounting software.

A decision was made to move the responsibility for managing the church building use schedule under the administrative assistant position.

A decision was made to change the Youth Director position to a part time position for the next year due to budget constraints and a draft job description was reviewed.

A motion was made and approved to accept Trent and Donna Callis as members.

Discussion and prayer is continuing regarding the current applicant for the Senior Pastor position as well as the possibility of hiring an interim pastor until the position is filled. Additional resumes have been received and are under review.

The latest financial reports indicate that giving continues to be below last year’s levels but has improved over the last several months compared to the first part of this year. There continues to be about 3 months of reserves in the general fund at current spending levels.

Please continue to pray for God’s leading for us as a board as we seek His will in all areas of ministry here at LMBC.

Elder Report – June 2018

The board of Elders had their regularly scheduled meetings on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. The Senior Pastor search is still ongoing. There has been a time of communication with another person that has turned in a resume. However, this person accepted a position with another Church that they were very familiar with, and that he had sent a resume to as well.

We have another person’s resume that we are currently going through the process of listening to sermons and talking with people about.

We still ask for continued prayer from the congregation, and for guidance and direction from the Lord. Patience on waiting for the Lord to put the right person in the Senior Pastor position at the Church is going to be rewarded to us all someday. We have looked at, listened to, prayed over, and researched many people that have turned in resumes. We have very much appreciated your prayers and understanding.

The finances for the Church have been slower than last year, but the month of May was higher than the same time last year. We still see new people weekly coming through the doors. If you see somebody that you don’t recognize, STOP, take one minute of your time and introduce yourself, and let that person see a genuine heartfelt welcome. Just remember, for somebody, that could be the highlight of their week.

The newsletter committee published their first newsletter for LMBC. Grab a copy and check out all of the things happening. I think you will be amazed at what is happening, and what has happened. Please don’t forget to show them your appreciation for their volunteer efforts. (Just another group wanting to be involved in bettering OUR LMBC Community.)

Some of the staff have voluntarily asked to have their hours cut back and their compensation as well to benefit the Church. Some

of the time cuts are due to other staff members sharing some of the same obligations. (Sounds like more efficiency.)

A motion was made and passed for these requests.

Discussion has taken place about an interim Pastor. The board is in favor of this, but we do not have anyone in mind yet.

There has also been some discussion about different security measures for the Church. This involves the parking lot, the lobby, and some different entrances and rooms. If this is a field that you would like to be trained in and volunteer for, please see one of the Elders to guide you in the appropriate direction.

Remember to make a point to show up to the Elder’s open forum meeting at 6:00 tonight.

Thought for the week. If you are too busy with yourself to care about someone else’s concerns, that person may be too busy to care about your concerns. Don’t ask why nobody cares about me.

Elder Report – May 2018

This is a recap of the Elder meetings held on May 9th and May 23rd.

At the May 9th meeting, several motions were approved regarding staffing. First, our Administrative Assistant (Linda) was authorized to approve ministry expense reimbursements (Glenn abstained). Also, the Elders accepted a proposal from Pastor Kenny to reduce his schedule and compensation to part-time starting June 1st. Joining the meeting, Laurie and Sherilee provided an update on their ministries. Also, Laurie presented a proposal to amend her job responsibilities and reduce her hours to a part-time (24 hours per week) position. The Elders requested some time to think and pray on the proposal. At the same meeting the Elders conducted a Skype interview with an applicant for the Senior Pastor position. Finally, the Elders approved a new job description titled Discipleship Director, to be filled by Andy Miller (Doug abstained).

During the May 23rd meeting, the April financial reports were reviewed. It was noted that general fund giving continues to decline from a year ago. Through April, giving is down over $67,000 from the first four months of 2017. An updated budget projection will be prepared for the June 13th Elder meeting to reflect recent changes in staffing. There was an update on the status of both applicants for Senior Pastor. One of the applicants has indicated that he is being called by another church. The remaining applicant will be contacted to arrange for an interview. Both the revised Pastoral Candidate worksheet and the Pastor Profile/Desired Qualification list were reviewed and approved. Finally, a motion was approved to appoint Nick Blohm as Summer Interim Youth Director.

Please continue to pray for wisdom and grace for the Elders of LMBC.

Elder Report – April 2018

The Elders met for two meetings in the month of April; one on the 11th and one on the 25th.

At the April 11th meeting there was discussion about the Elders open forum meeting held on April 8th. It was very well attended, and a great deal of positive feedback was received from it. It is something that could be done on a quarterly basis. The suggestions provided at the meeting have been addressed and plans are in the works to implement several of them. Some examples are a church newsletter, ways to become even more intentional about being a “welcoming” church to first time attenders and putting together a comprehensive list of small groups that are currently offered at Lazy Mountain.

Debbie Kenny attended part of the April 11th meeting to discuss her upcoming retirement, discuss division of her duties and what transition will look like. Numerous motions were passed regarding issues surrounding discussion with Debbie such as;
-A motion was passed to approve Sherilee Sullivan to take on the responsibility of adult coordinator for MOPS, as well as the child’s coordinator for MOPS, which she has already been doing.
-A motion was passed to allow Debbie to have the women’s Ministry and Heart care budgets continue in the designated areas that are already in place.
-A motion was passed to allow Debbie to recruit and implement the volunteers that she has mentored to be placed into the appropriate ministry groups.

At the April 25th meeting there was discussion about having members attend Elder meetings as an open invitation. The discussion went in the direction of scheduling regular Elders open forum meetings. The next Elders open forum meeting has been scheduled for Sunday, July 8th at 6:00 p.m.
-A motion was passed to approve the Summer Interim Youth Director Job description.

The Elders are seriously considering refocusing Andy’s ministry to lead our Church wide Disciple making ministries, in line with the LMBC vision. We are now working on the job description for this position. The Staff and Elders are also working on the development of an action plan for this ministry. We welcome your input or thoughts regarding these ministry movements.

Regarding the search for senior Pastor, three promising applicants were contacted requesting further information and submission of references. One of the applicants whose name had been submitted by a third party opted out, stating he is not currently looking to make a change in his current ministry. The other two are proceeding along in the process and references are being received by the Elder board.

Elder announcement on Sunday, April 15, 2018

The LMBC Elders are seriously considering refocusing Andy Miller’s ministry to lead our church-wide disciple making ministries, in line with the LMBV Vision. We are now working on the job description for this position. The staff and elders are also working on the development of an action plan for this ministry. We welcome your input or thoughts regarding these ministry movements.

Elder Report – First Quarter 2018

The Elders have met in regular meetings seven times during the first three months of 2018. In addition, the 2018 Annual Membership Meeting and a Special Membership Meeting were held.

At the January 17, 2018 Elder meeting a motion was approved unanimously “To move Ben Olson forward as a candidate for Senior Pastor.”

The Annual Membership Meeting was held on January 21, 2018. During the meeting five Elders were elected and two Deacons. Also, the 2018 Ministry Plan was approved.

On January 24, 2018, the Elders met and elected Board Officers. Doug Prins – Chairman, Glenn Moyer – Vice Chairman, Gary Feaster – Secretary and Al Strawn – Treasurer.

At their February 14, 2018 meeting the Elders approved a motion “To present Ben Olson for Senior Pastor.” The vote was 6 in favor and 1 opposed. Also, the Elders approved 27 new members to LMBC and reinstated 4 members to active status.

There was a Special Membership Meeting held on February 18, 2018, to consider the candidacy of Ben Olson for Senior Pastor. The candidacy required an 85% affirmative vote; the motion to approve failed with 103 yes votes and 22 no votes.

The Elders met on February 22, March 14, and March 26, 2018 with no action taken at these meetings; however, there was considerable discussion about the future direction of LMBC and the need to move forward.

On March 28, 2018, the Elders made a number of decisions

• Approved a Vision Chart to help guide and direct LMBC into the future. This chart is derived from the LMBC Constitution’s Purpose Statement and Membership Covenant. The Vision Chart will be presented at an Open Forum Discussion Meeting on April 8, 2018 at the church
• Directed the staff to develop the concept of “community disciple making groups” in accordance with the recently approved Vision Chart.
• Established a sub-committee within the Board to research the three remaining active resumes for Senior Pastor and report to the rest of the Board. The sub-committee includes Doug Prins, Jami Peters and Matt Loudon.

Your Elders are very appreciative of all those who have provided your thoughts, suggestions and prayers. The following is from our Statement of Faith:

“We believe that the universal Church consists of all believers from Pentecost to the return of Christ. Christ is the Head of the Church, which is His Body and espoused Bride. We also believe that a local church is made up of all fellowshipping believers in a particular place. The establishment and order of local churches is defined and taught in the New Testament Scriptures.”

Monthly Elder report / update [November/December 2017]

First of all, I apologize for not getting the November report out. Somehow the time seemed to slip by.

We have just recently received another resume from a person that would like to apply for Senior Pastor. How many does this make that we have received so far?

 A.) 15    B.)  42    C.)  26

We appreciate your patience as we wait on the Lord to lead us to the person that he has chosen to be our new Senior Pastor

The nominating committee has been formed and has met several times to seek nominations for the Elder board and for Deacons. They have discussed several people, and are working on a list to present as candidates at the annual meeting.

Speaking of the annual meeting, the date is set for January 21st, 2018 at 6:00 pm. Yes that really is an 8 on the end of the year.

As in the last several years, there will be pre – annual meeting question and answer informational meetings for several weeks prior to the annual meeting. These will be held during first and second services in another room. One of the big items for the annual meeting will be the Constitution revision that was tabled last year. We have had some good input as to some clarification that could be included. These comments will go back to the Constitution Review committee for their input and approval. Please pick up the packet of proposed changes to the Constitution, and be prepared to submit your written questions at one of the informational meetings.

As the Elder board, we try to keep as much information out in the open as what we can. Contact anyone of the Elders with questions or concerns about Church happenings.

Thank you for believing in the folks that you have voted in to lead our Church.

(the answer is – C for the question above.)

The October 2017 Elder Update

Thanks to all of you who continue to fast and pray on the 1st and 15th of each month to our Heavenly Father, asking Him to lead/bring to us our next Senior Pastor.  In the last month we received four additional resumes from some godly men who are interested in the senior position.  We pray over these resumes, discuss them and meet with the man if he happens to be in the area.  You might ask, why is it taking so long to find another senior pastor?  The elders are looking to the Holy Spirit to show us without any question the man of God’s choosing and we have yet to see that man revealed to us.  We are hoping that God will soon bring that man with a shepherd’s heart to LMBC.

In getting ready for the LMBC annual members meeting January 28, 2018 we are working on these items, the elder (need 5 men) and deacon (need 2 men) nominations, the church budget for 2018, and the revised LMBC constitution that Keith Early, Dave Dickson and Gerald DeVilbiss worked on diligently for two years, then submitted the revisions to the elders, who then made some changes after other members gave their input.  We, the elders are prepared to again ask the members of LMBC if they would look over the revised constitution, offer any suggestions of changes to be made (if any) and then vote to accept the revised LMBC constitution.  There was a question at the 2017 annual meeting about the voting process.  After hours of searching all the minutes of membership meetings, minutes of elder meetings and special committees from 1973 to the present, talking with charter members and a former pastor, all revisions to the LMBC church constitution in past history (except the doctrinal statement) were passed by a quorum of 25% or more of all voting members present at that meeting.  See Article VI-Government, Section F – Meetings in the present LMBC constitution.  So, please inform yourself, talk with the elders and cast your vote January 28, 2018.

We the elders are here to serve you the people of LMBC.

September Elder Report

The Elders have met at regular meetings three times since our last monthly update. Each meeting starts with an extended time of prayer. Following prayer, the Elders receive a staff update from Pastor Kenny and once a month we review the church financial reports. In addition, the Elders have invested considerable time and energy on the Senior Pastor search. This includes reviewing resumes, listening to sermons, checking references, developing interview questions and informal meetings with interested individuals. Our desire is for our Heavenly Father to reveal to us a Godly man who has a good shepherd’s heart and a gift of exegetical[1], expository[2] preaching. Incidentally, these were also qualities on the January 10, 2000 “wish list” when the LMBC Elders last began a search for a Senior Pastor.

Also, the Elders are preparing for the 2018 Annual Membership Meeting to be held in January. There are five expiring Elder positions to be filled and two Deacons. In addition, the 2018 General Fund budget must be presented for approval and changes to the Church Constitution considered.

It has been a year since Pastor Dahm’s retirement. During this time of transition our church family has experienced many blessings, as well as suffering much pain and loss. The following verses from the Apostle Paul were written many years ago to the Church at Ephesus to encourage unity and maturity in the body of Christ.

Ephesians 4:1-3 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

Your Elders are united and seeking God’s guidance. We continue to ask for your patience and prayer.

[1] Exegesis – Interpretation of a word, passage, etc. especially in the Bible.

[2] Expository – Containing exposition, explanatory.

August Elder Update

Lazy Mountain Bible Church has truly received a Blessing from the Lord with the hiring of the new Worship and Arts Director, Stan McGuire.

Please remember to include Stan and his wife, Jennifer, in your prayer schedule.

With a new staff member, please help them get established with a warm Alaskan greeting and hospitality. Remember we have all been waiting patiently for the Lord’s person to come along for this position. Let’s continue with patience and Love for Stan as he gets accustomed to Alaska and to Lazy Mountain Bible Church.

Senior Pastor Update:

We continue to be able to have some of the folks that have turned in resumes come and speak as guest speakers for us. Thank you to Pastor Kenny for continuing to fill the pulpit with the folks that have been speaking. We have been able to have a nice variety of folks do the speaking for us on Sundays. This should help the Church as a whole to more determine the type and style of a person that will fit at LMBC. The Elders had a lengthy discussion at their last meeting about the folks that we still have resumes on file for. One person has asked to have his name removed from the list, and some of the Elders met with another individual to hear from him. The Elders that met with the person all agreed that the individual has lots of potential, but was not quite ready for a Senior Pastor position. We have solicited a resume from another person that some of the elders met with. Some of the Elders have a time set this week to meet with another person that has turned in a resume as well.

We still have resumes from four people that are interested in the Senior Pastor position. One of the people will be asked to do some more consecutive speaking for us.

P – Patience and Pray for the Pastor position

R – Rejoice in the many Blessings that we all have

A – Always take it to the Lord in Prayer

Y – Yearn to follow Jesus more closely

Remember to allow the Lord to do His Will, not our own.

July Elder Report

The Elders have held three meetings since our last report. Much of our time was focused on finalizing arrangements to bring Stan McGuire to Alaska as a candidate to be considered for the position of Worship and Arts Director. In addition, the Elders continue to evaluate resumes received from individuals expressing interest in the Senior Pastor position. At the June 28 meeting the number of individuals being considered was reduced to six; however since that time we have received two additional resumes. Also, at the June 28 meeting the May financial reports were reviewed. General fund giving continues to be down as compared to last year; however our expenses are also down which has allowed the church to build general fund cash reserves by over $13,000 during 2017.

Most of the Elders and their wives were able to attend a Saturday luncheon at the church on July 1 with Stan McGuire. Also, members of the worship teams were invited and many were able to attend the luncheon to enjoy good fellowship, great food and to meet Stan. Following the church services on July 2, a potluck was held at the church to again enjoy food and fellowship, followed by short introduction and question and answer session with Stan. Later that same afternoon the Elders and staff privately met with Stan at the church. Stan’s wife Jen joined the meeting through Skype. Following nearly two hours of conversation, the following motion was unanimously approved: “To hire Stan McGuire as Worship and Arts Director at an annual salary of $54,000.00, in addition to covering moving expenses up to $10,000 and with a start date of approximately August 1, 2017.”

At the July 12 meeting the Elders received a report from Youth Ministries Director Andy Miller, updating us on activities at The YAK. Andy very recently received a resignation letter from The YAK Director, Jeff Gail. The YAK is now operating under a separate Board of Directors, under the direction of Andy Miller as the board chairman, and that board has already begun the discussion of filling the director position at The YAK.

All Elder meetings start with a time of prayer and conclude with prayer. We are united and excited about the future God has planned for LMBC!

June Elder Board update

So far this month the Elder board has met twice. June 7th was the first meeting this month, as a special meeting with Debbie Kenny, Laurie Buist, and Andy Miller. Debbie and Laurie have worked together for countless hours to revise the protection policy for the Church. Their focus and end goal was to address and implement changes that were in need of taking place in the protection policy in order to make it a stronger document.

The Elder board unanimously supported and approved these changes to be implemented effective immediately.

Andy met with the Elder board afterwards to discuss his plans for ministry for this fall. He has some exciting plans that he presented to us. More to follow soon.

The Worship and Arts committee has a nominee that they wanted to present to the Elder board for further consideration. The committee was in 100% approval with this person after they held a Skype interview. The Elders have decided to fly him and his wife up for further consideration. A Church member has previously worked with this person in the past. (See the back of this flier for the schedule.)

The next meeting for the Elder board is on the 28th. We will be having more discussion about the people that have submitted resumes for the Senior Pastor position. Pastor Kenny has speakers lined up through August 20th. The next time you see or talk to Pastor Kenny, give him a hug or a handshake for all that he has been doing to keep the Church being a Church.

It may appear on the outside as though the Church is having some challenges, but we are truly Blessed to have the staff and volunteers that we do.

Exercise the grace of God, while waiting on His timing for our next Senior pastor.

From the Elders and the Worship and Arts Committee:

The Worship and Arts Committee has interviewed Stanley D. McGuire via a Skype interview and the committee was in 100% approval of him. This nominee was presented to the Elders and the Elders have decided to fly Stan and his wife up for further consideration as the Worship and Arts Director. Unfortunately, Jenni, Stan’s wife, is unable to travel with him due to work responsibilities. Stan will be at Lazy Mountain Bible Church June 30th-July 2nd.

Schedule of events:

Saturday, July 1st:

  • Stan will be meeting with the members of the worship teams and the Worship and Arts committee.
  • The weekly worship team rehearsal will be held and will be led by Stan.

Sunday, July 2nd:

  • Stan will be leading the musical worship during the Sunday worship services.
  • After the 11:00 a.m. worship service, there will be a potluck for all who are interested in meeting and visiting with Stan. Please bring food to share.
  • Following the meal, there will be a time for Stan to share and to entertain questions. Questions will be accepted and presented by a designated moderator for Stan to answer.
  • The Elders and Staff will meet with Stan at approximately 2:30 p.m. for an opportunity to entertain additional questions.
  • When it has been determined that all questions have been sufficiently answered, Stan and the staff will be dismissed. The Elder Board will be called to order for a time of prayer and discussion, with a goal of ending the meeting with a vote to determine if Stan should be hired for the position of Worship and Arts Director.

The May Elder Update

The elders set aside the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month to meet.  Some months, like last month, we had one extra meeting.  In June we are planning to have three meetings also.

The elders continue to pursue the men that have submitted their resumes for the Senior Pastor position.  There are five men who have sent us their information a few months ago that we have been looking at and contacting. Plus, we have just received two new resumes from some other men a few days ago that we are looking at closely.

Pray for us as we continue to seek the Lord and continue to narrow down the candidates to just a few, and then the one.

The Worship and Arts Search committee, (Glenn Moyer-chairman, Bev Earley-secretary, Kyle DeWinter, Ruth Cunningham, Andy Miller and Frankie Emrick) have met twelve times and interviewed three candidates.  It was felt by the committee that two of the candidates did not meet the qualifications. The third candidate was interviewed in depth; he was very qualified, but has since changed his mind about the position and asked that his name be removed.

The April Elder Update

The Elders and Staff of LMBC will be meeting together on Wednesday, April 26th. The purpose will be to discuss and begin to form a Vision plan concerning the strategic direction for our Church. Please pray for this meeting.

The Worship Director Search Committee has received several resumes and completed a number of interviews with people interested in this ministry position. The committee has also reported the results of the interviews to the Elders for their consideration.

The Elders have received a significant number of resumes for the Senior Pastor position. They have been evaluated to focus on those we feel are best qualified for our church. These men have been contacted personally or by phone to further the selection process. The next step will be for the Elders to futher interview those best qualified to serve as our Shepherd.

Potter’s Group

POTTER’S GROUP can be a life changing process in your life.  Many live with ingrained habits of thought like: “I’ll never be good enough”, “I can’t forgive myself”; “I am not lovable”; “My sense of worth is very low”; “Why does anger, fear, guilt or shame have so much power in my life?”, “I feel alone and abandoned”.  Many of these feelings are based upon our wounding by others.    Come join us, share your story, learn skills to move forward and grow closer to God and others.
